Toru Murakawa with Isao Natsuyagi on the set of Dead Angle

2015's shaping up to be a good year for Toru Murakawa on ADC. First lauwlw got the ball rolling by translating the entire "Game" trilogy, and now another's joining the fray: Murakawa's 1988 hard-boiled classic, Break Out. Miike liked it so much he paid it homage in The Man In White. This is the first of three custom subbed Murakawa films I plan to upload.

Murakawa's name was synonymous with Japanese action films during the late 70's to early 90's. If you think about this stuff way too much like I do, then that makes him the spiritual successor to Fukasaku's reign of terror. Break Out is what I consider Murakawa at the peak of his powers. Murakawa had honed his craft shooting all the various Matsuda action vehicles and even a kung fu movie in China. More importantly, it's before the early 90s and his umm, "ill-fated" American co-productions which shall never be mentioned on this site again.

I transcribed and timed the subtitles from a VHS but there was extra dialogue that needed to be translated. Thanks to YakuzaKazuya and quaisnord for their help - without them I would have never finished this project.
